Kindergarten and 1st Grade
Before School & After School Program
We center our focus around helping our little ones make a smooth transition into elementary school and in an after-school setting.
We help them make this transition by:
- Introducing our Kindergarteners and First Graders to their new friends, and the SCATZ family.
- Providing the kindergartners and 1st graders in a separate room from the other older-age children.
- Establishing a class routine that is fun and easy to follow.
- Teaching 'our children' good homework habits.
- Creating fun, cool, and educational activities for the Kindergarteners and First Graders to participate in. Learning is around every corner, our staff use what we call the “disguised learning” method to make education activities fun and engaging.
- Allowing flexibility in our daily routine when needed. If one of our little ones wants to take a nap, we can provide the space and time for them to do so.
- We ask our parents to provide extra change clothes for our little ones, in case they need them.
- Walking the children (during the first week of school) to their area and classroom so they can become familiar with their school surroundings.
- Also introducing youth development (Character Development) to our little ones with stories related to the six pillars of character, and learning moments.
A Quick Glimpse of What Our Daily "School Day" Routine is Like:

- Kindergarteners/ First Graders arrive at our starting at 2:30pm.
- Our staff monitor and guide the children to complete their homework in a 45 min to an hour block of time.
- Our Staff does not complete homework for your child; instead we help them navigate through the words and ideas they might not understand, so they can truly say they completed their own homework!
- After Homework time is complete the children enjoy a healthy snack of fruits and/or veggies.

- We play an array of group games that help our kindergartners and 1st develop gross motor skills and hand & eye coordination.
- Games include hopscotch, handball, football, beanbag toss, tag and many more.

- Our children learn about cool things in science, art, math, literature, and history.
- Including: math hangman, erupting volcanoes, clay hand prints, word games, and much more.
- After the children have enjoyed their time doing activities and playing games we come inside and unwind with card & board games, computer learning games, fun drawings/coloring.
- As we say our goodbyes to our little friends when their parents come in, and we let our parents know all the fun things we did that day, and what exciting after school activities we will do the next day!
We then get ready for another fun filled day!
